Stephanie, what's your source for the claim that McDonald's settled with Liebeck for less than $400,000? The settlement was confidential, and the only published account of the matter I've seen that mentions a number says the settlement of the appeal and cross-appeal was for around the final judgment amount of $640,000.

Ted: You're right. I misspoke. I confused the final settlement with the punitive award, which was reduced to about $400,000 by the judge.

$480,000, if I recall correctly.
